Dysport Day is November 8, 2023. You can save on Dysport treatment. If you are interested in anti-aging treatments, you have probably thought about injectable treatment. But is Botox or Dysport the right choice? What is the difference? Here’s the down low on these neurotoxins and how to decide which is right for you.

What is Botox?

Botox is a neuromodulator. It is produced form Botulinum Type A. When it is injected in small amounts, it can reduce or remove fine lines and wrinkles. How? Well, it blocks nerve signals, effectively preventing muscles from contracting and causing wrinkles. Botox has been FDA approved since 1989 and is used for a wide variety of conditions.

Dysport

Dysport was FDA approved in the U.S. in 2009 and has since proven to be an effective, non-invasive treatment for wrinkles and fine lines. Like Botox, it was used medically before being approved for cosmetic uses. Dysport is also derived from Botulinum Type A and works in the same way as Botox.

So, What’s the Difference?

The biggest difference in Botox and Dysport is their levels of concentration. Dysport is more diluted than Botox, with an almost 3 to 1 split. Depending on the location of the injectable, your doctor may need more product to fill one area than another.

It may be easy to think that Dysport will be more expensive than Botox since it’s more diluted, but this isn’t true. While you may need more units of Dysport, the price per unit is significantly cheaper than Botox. So, the price per treatment comes out to about the same for either product.

Different Uses

In addition to concentration, Dysport also differs in its molecular behavior and diffusion. Due to its molecular makeup, it spreads faster, especially over larger surfaces. So, while Botox works well for lip lines, crow’s feet, and other fine wrinkles, Dysport is better suited to large surface areas like the forehead and frown lines.

Botox vs. Dysport: How to Decide

So, how do you decide which one is right for you? Well, it comes down to a few factors. First, consider the location and severity of your wrinkles, and what kind of results you are expecting. Then, your provider can help you decide if Botox or Dysport is right for you. Take advantage of Dysport Day to save on your treatment!
